Neve Hanna: Changing Children’s Lives

For more than ten years I’ve had the privilege of serving on the board of the American Friends of Neve Hanna Children’s Home, a therapeutic residential school for Israeli children from troubled families. I’ve visited Neve Hanna and fallen in love with it, as many people do, experiencing firsthand how children from the most difficult circumstances find hope, understanding, friendship, learning, and growth. Communications projects have included benefit and event invitations, holiday cards, certificates, and thank-you cards to donors. Neve Hanna aims to instill a love of Jewish traditions and values, one of which is the love of reading, study, and learning.

With virtually no budget, I’m proud to have built the Build a Library campaign, including a 12-page self-cover mini case statement, using six stock images and six photos from the Neve Hanna photo archive. The image on the booklet cover is a stock photo of a blank book with green linen cover and binding. Combined with a personal letter and social media posts, the campaign raised more than $80,000 for books, a tablet computer, the librarian’s annual salary, stipends for two student assistants, and a tutor for story and learning hours.

The executive director of American Friends of Neve Hanna, Lisa Pollack, is a photographer with social media expertise. She knows where and how often to post to achieve maximum reach and effectiveness.

Two day’s shooting on location was donated by leading Israeli photographer Ilan Besor to produce this case statement, mailed with a letter and reply envelope, all of which included the updated logo, shown at lower right.
Gifts to donors include this distinctive certificate.
